I was once in New York one fall morning following a Saturday night game. I had to leave really early to catch a plane. As usual, I couldn’t sleep fearing I’d oversleep my 5 a.m. wakeup call.
The clock on the hotel nightstand said 5:00. No wakeup call. Damn. I head down to the lobby to [...]

Arenas talks about leadership
The Washington Wizards play their home opener on Saturday, the first chance to see Gilbert Arenas in one piece in two years. So far, so good as Arenas averaged 26 points and 6.5 assists in the 1-1 start.
Arenas seems older, more serious than the old Agent Zero. Nearly losing your career to knee [...]
See Snyder get tarred and feathered
First, it’s not me. I spell my last name differently. Second, it’s not Dan Snyder, either. Uh, we think. It’s a D.C. Lottery commercial gone wild.
Redskins say bye for now
It’s bye week for the Redskins, which should take the stress level down from Def-Con4. Man, just when I think things can’t get worse, the team bans all signs and negative shirts from the stadium. Claim the First Amendment doesn’t apply on private property. I’m sure some smart lawyer could break that.
Anyway, my Washington Examiner [...]
It’s the start of something ugly
The Washington Redskins were soundly beaten by Philadelphia. Every way, up and down in the 27-17 loss. And yet, I thought it would be worse.
My Washington Examiner column runs down the Eagles loss and why things will soon get even worse. This is the good old days?
It’s going to be an ugly ending for Redskins
Gruden’s arrival is ironic
The man rumored to be the next Washington Redskins coach just spent the last couple days learning all he could about the team for his current job — announcer. Monday Night Football’s Jon Gruden arrives just in time to see the Redskins really fall apart against Philadelphia.
My Washington Examiner column discusses the irony of Gruden [...]
Quarterback Club may skip Redskins awards
How bad is the fan rage spilling over onto life in Washington? The Quarterback Club has sold nowhere near enough tickets to hosts its Dec. 15 Player of the Year dinner.
The dinner has been a year-end staple since 1969 when Sam Huff won it. But barring a major sale of tickets in the next week, [...]

Chris Samuels will retire — you’ll see
The Redskins are trying to keep this low key, but it’s a real long shot for offensive tackle Chris Samuels to return.
The 10-year veteran had a bad knee entering the season. He was looking for a reason to retire, but the money’s great, the game itself is fun and he’s only 32. It’s hard to [...]
Has long does Zorn have left?
Could be a few days, may be a few weeks, but Redskins coach Jim Zorn is a long shot to finish the season.
My Washington Examiner column shows how owner Dan Snyder has become so predictable you could see this train wreck coming.
Don’t believe the Snyder spin
The best damn Redskins podcast
Is on Warpath Confidential.com. Right now. Go listen.
It’s a two-part roundtable. My Washington Examiner colleague John Keim and I handle the writer’s roundtable with Skinscast.com editor John Pappas while several fans give their perspective on the other half of the show. You’ll hear about the team from all angles.

Redskins circus plays on
Everything is chaotic at Redskins Park. The coach has been emasculated. The offense can’t score. The owner is scorned. The place is just in shambles with no hope of salvation.
In other words. Day 3,742 of the Dan Snyder era.
My Washington Examiner column explains how it’s everyone for themselves at Redskins Park.
Redskins circus is full of [...]
Fans stage revolt
I usually don’t give internet-based fan groups too much credence. It’s hard to start a revolution on the internet.
Then again, maybe I’m wrong. There were a good 25,000 no shows on Sunday for the Redskins-K.C. game. Maybe 20 percent of the crowd wore black that was meant as opposition to owner Dan Snyder.
My Washington Examiner [...]
