I know a bakery update seems a little strange, but it has been the most viewed google-linked post I’ve written. Why? Because it’s a Southern Maryland institution for four decades that recently re-opened.
So here’s my latest report. Yesterday, I show up at 2 p.m. to get eclairs for a family party — out-of-town relatives who were thrilled to hear about Walls recently re-opening in Waldorf. I walk in, the place is practically bought out. The eclairs are gone. I ask if any more are coming. Yes, in an hour. So I delay leaving for the family party and return an hour later.
Four racks of eclairs are in the case. I take 5. The guy behind me takes 8. I have a feeling the oven keeps turning these things out non-stop. Walls makes great cakes and typical bakery goods, but if I were them I’d limit it to eclairs and cakes. Go to Dunkin’ Donuts if you want those.
Walls is open 7-7 every day aside Mondays for now. Just go early if you want eclairs before I show up. And yes, I’ve now vowed not to stop every day for fear of gaining 50 pounds this coming year.

Those eclairs are the stuff dreams are made of!
And yes, I know that’s a dangling participle . . . sometimes they’re necessary!
