Maybe you’re heard the news that the Washington Times is in turmoil. Lot of management shakeup, including top editor John Solomon out.
I worked 20 years at the Times before moving to the Examiner in 2005. I’m thankful for both papers. The Times gave a young reporter a chance and let me cover everything and go everywhere. If I had to do it over again, I would do it again. But 2005 was a time for a change in my life and I’m grateful the Examiner was there to offer me a columnist job I’ve greatly enjoyed.
I don’t have any hard feelings about the Times. Life’s too short for that. I have a lot of friends there and the industry needs all the jobs it can keep. I’ll hope for a sale or internet-only edition, but things look grim.
Whether you’re a conservative Republican or liberal Democrat, papers serve a purpose to democracy and we need them all. I wish my fellow TWTers well.
