Who won the recruiting wars?

My Washington Examiner column today is probably the only high school topic I write annually — recruiting. The seniors signed yesterday and Maryland grabbed a fair share of local talent. Not anything that turns the Terps into a national powerhouse, but at least Penn State didn’t sign all the good ones for once.

I’m not big on discussing recruiting mainly because I’d rather talk about who’s going to play this season. Maybe a handful of true freshmen at most play every year, which is what a good program wants. It’s really about 2-3 years from now and that’s forever in sports. I’ll worry about those players then.

Do recruits pan out?
