The Washington Nationals are lucky at one thing – picking the right managers.
Interim manager Jim Riggleman was named the permanent boss. It’s a great baseball. Not only is he a good baseball man, but also a local from Rockville who talks to growing up watching the team. That tie to the old days is outstanding.
Frank Robinson was a very good manager. So was Manny Acta despite his record. Riggleman is a solid choice.
“He did a masterful job in very trying circumstances,” general manager Mike Rizzo said. “He gave us a sense of balance in not only the dugout but also the clubhouse.”
Said Riggleman: “It’s the dream of a lifetime to grow up watching a ballclub and then end up playing or managing for that ballclub.”
