Lastings Milledge and Joel Hanrahan were traded for two Pittsburgh players. Frankly, the Nationals could have received a bag of balls and I’d call the trade a success.
Milledge’s behavior made him unusable. Hanrahan was terrible. Goodbye and good luck. Morgan will play center and may lead off. He’s hitting a respectable .277. He’s the key to the trade. Burnett is a decent middle reliever that the Nats need, too.
Overall, it’s just the start of getting better. But, at least it’s starting. Nick Johnson and Adam Dunn could both be gone by July’s end. Maybe Juan Guzman, too. Austin Kearns will probably be released because his contract isn’t tradeable.
